the Europa League Conference will be introduced to the world of football starting in the 2021-22 season, and we’ll see that in FIFA 22 as well.

UEFA is introducing a third level of European competition which will take place at the same time as the current Europa League on a Thursday evening.

Latest News – Conference League Confirmed

EA has put a premium on the authenticity of FIFA 22’s Career Mode, and we’ll have a new competition to enter.

“Whether you want to be a coach or a player, we know you have a passion for authenticity, so we’ll continue to keep the bar high with the inclusion of the UEFA Europa Conference League as well as other additions to be announced at a later date. Dated.”

What are these other additions? We will have to wait and see.

What is the Europa League Conference?

The idea behind the third tier competition is to provide opportunities for European football to clubs that are struggling to qualify for current competitions.

This is aimed at some of the smaller nations, but there is an open place for English clubs.

The new system for European competitions will see at least 34 UEFA nations represented in the group stage of one of the competitions.

The five big European leagues all secured a place in the tournament, but Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal and Scotland received two.

Qualification

A Premier League side qualify for the competition, with Tottenham Hotspur being the first member to finish seventh in the league.

The Spurs will enter the Europa Conference League during the play-offs.

The first leg of the play-offs will take place on Thursday August 19, with the return leg the following week.

Ultimate team

We’ve seen various Champions League (UCL) and Europa League (UEL) maps released in Ultimate Team over the past two seasons, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see some for the new competition as well.

We’re unlikely to see any standard cards as we currently don’t see any for the Europa League.

However, the Road to the Final (RTTF), Team of the Tournament (TOTT), and Man of the Match (MOTM) maps are all quite reasonable.

As this is the very first time the competition will be held, could EA have something special up its sleeves?

Career mode

EA has obtained the Champions League licenses and the Europa League for the next three years, so this partnership with UEFA will also extend to the Europa Conference League.

We have seen real efforts in the experience of Champions League matches in Career mode, so hopefully this will extend to third tier competition.

With this news, we’ll have another fully licensed tournament to play when FIFA 22’s career mode arrives.

It should also open up new opportunities for new clubs to be added to the game if they qualify.

The bohemians to inspire the rivals of LOI?

I think most fans of the SSE Airtricity League were delighted with the Bohemians’ laudable 2-1 victory over PAOK on Tuesday night at Aviva Stadium.

The Greek giants’ online budget estimates ranged from € 25 million to € 80million per year, but even at the lowest of those numbers they are spending around 25 times more to pay their players than the Dalymount Park club.

And yet, Bohs came away with a 2-1 win despite a few glimpses hinting that they would be lucky to come away with a 3-0 defeat.

Although they still have a long way to go and are still underdogs to go through, as Keith Long later acknowledged, their performance on Tuesday should give hope to both clubs in the Irish League in action later today.

Fitness-boosted Dundalk outdoors

Dundalk followers might point out that their own European experiences over the past five years are what they will later build on in the Netherlands.

On two occasions they have reached the group stages of the Europa League, while last week’s late victory over Levadia Tallinn was particularly satisfying.

Tonight’s opponents Vitesse Arnhem finished 4th last season in the Eredivisie and reached the Dutch Cup final, losing 2-1 to Ajax. The new season should start in 10 days.

They did business in the offseason, bringing in striker Nikolai Baden Frederiksen from Juventus, midfielder Toni Domgjoni, as well as goalkeeper Markus Schubert from Shalke 04. They also brought back Lois Openda on loan from Brugge. after scoring 10 goals last season.

They reached the group stages of the Europa League as early as the 2017/18 season, whereas they lost to Basel in the second qualifying round three seasons ago.

According to the UEFA club rankings, Vitesse comes into the game in 146th position, around 20 places behind visitors to the GelreDome.

Speaking ahead of the game, Darragh Leahy highlighted Vinny Perth’s return to the club as a welcome gesture.

“Since Vinny’s return our form is a bit more stable and it’s another opportunity to play against a top team in Europe and we are really going to look forward to it,” he said.

The Lilywhites enter the game after back-to-back away wins in Europe – against Levadia and Newtown – and that will be the goal ahead of next week’s second leg in West Dublin.

Rovers look to bounce back in Conference League

The Shamrock Rovers’ domestic form has been solid, if not spectacular, having lost a few more games since Dundalk ended his league unbeaten run in late May.

Granted, they still lead the SSE Airtricity League, three ahead of St Patrick’s Athletic – which they beat 3-1 last week – and also until the FAI Cup second round after knocking out Galway.

They fought bravely to compete for Champions League progress last month, taking a two-goal lead after losing 2-0 to Bratislava in Slovakia.

A controversial winner of Vladimír Weiss, however, has ended his hopes in Europe’s first club competition, but he has the consolation of being in the Champions section of the Conference League.

One man The Hoops could do without is Liam Scales, the defender who is the subject of a € 600,000 offer from Celtic. Although manager Stephen Bradley confirmed on Wednesday that Arklow’s man should be available.

Forward Graham Burke, who scored against Slovan, is expected to be back after missing the win over St Pat’s with injury.

Who are Tueta Durres?

Albanian team Tueta Durres arrived in this round by beating Inter Club d’Escaldes d’Androrre, a team that Dundalk beat in the Europa League qualifiers last season by a goal to zero (Covid-19 meant a first leg).

Tueta had to do it the hard way on the last lap. They lost the home game 2-0 but forced overtime after winning 2-0 in the second leg at Estadio Nacional. Albanian international Sherif Kallaku would prove to the hero, scoring the decisive goal – a penalty – within the extra 30 minutes.

Like Rovers, they left the Champions League in the first qualifying round, but their loss was not up for debate as they were completely put to death, 5-0 on aggregate, by Sheriff Tiraspol.

They won last season’s Kategoria Superiore on goal difference, but the new season won’t start until September 9, so they might lack the game-sharpness the Rovers will have.

Midfielder Kallaku – the man who scored this winner in the last round – is an important player for them. He scored 14 goals for Tueta two seasons ago, which saw him move to NK Lokomotiva Zagreb in Croatia. But he is back with the Albanian champions on loan.

Forward Pepi Gorgiev spent last season with Sileks Kratovo in the North Macedonian top flight, scoring 13 goals as the club were relegated.

Tueta’s European progress has been scarce, despite passing Beitar Jerusalem in the first round of the Europa League qualifiers last season. They have also beaten Valletta (Malta) this century, as well as the aforementioned overtime victory over Inter Club d’Escaldes.

“We’ve watched a lot of their games and we know they’re dangerous,” said Stephen Bradley.

“They have very good technical players in the offensive end of the pitch. Lots of movement, lots of rotations and high quality players. We know it will be a tough tie, but it’s a game we are really looking forward to. . to and we are ready for.

“We’re in very good shape and it’s a game we’re really looking forward to. It excites us, and we have to try to make it another special European night in Tallaght.”

The winner of this meeting will face the loser of the qualifying match for the Europa League between Omonia (Cyprus) and Flora (Estonia). It is therefore a great chance for the Hoops to get closer to a return to a European group stage a decade after their group appearance in the Europa League.

Viktoria Plzeň stands in the way of the New Saints who hope to prevent the Welsh side from progressing to the UEFA Europa Conference League, but who is the Czech side?

In 2009, if you ask most people with a basic knowledge of the Czech Republic about the city of Plzen, the first thing that will probably come to your mind would be the Pilsner Urquell brewery, where the original Pilsner beer originated there. over 150 years ago.

The reason why 2009 is mentioned is that you could also talk about Viktoria Plzen, a football team which has enjoyed recent success on the national and European stage.

This Thursday the Czech side stands in the way of TNS and the next round of the European Conference League and here’s a look at the West Bohemian club.

Story

Viktoria was founded by a railroad official from the city of Plzen in 1911 and although they were originally amateurs, the club enjoyed early success in Spain where on his first trip abroad, he won six of his nine matches on tour. Upon their return, it was decided that the club would turn pro and enter the national league.

For much of their existence, Viktoria has been a yo-yo team, spending so much time in the second and first tier of the Czech league and other than finishing second in the Czechoslovakia Cup, they have had little success. . It was until 2010.

A change of president in 2010 saw Tomas Paclik appoint Pavel Vrba as new manager and with it brought the most successful period in the history of the club. After winning the Czech Republic Cup in 2010, the club won their first league title in 2011 and have been a dominant force in domestic football ever since. Five league titles in eight years and good performances in Europe have consolidated Viktoria’s place among the best Czech teams.

Stadium

The original stadium, the Mesta Plzen Stadium, was opened in 1955 for regional gymnastics events known as the Spartakiad and was in dire need of reconstruction when modernization work began to meet the criteria of the UEFA.

The stadium now has 11,700 seats entirely and is located a stone’s throw from the city center and the local brewery.

It was renamed Doosan Arena.

Director

After Pavel Vrba’s success, the club haven’t quite found a suitable replacement. In March of this year, club owner Adolf Sadek lost patience with Adrian Gula and replaced him with former national team boss Michal Bilek.

It should be noted that since Pavel Vrba left the club in 2013 the club are now on their eighth manager, only time will tell if Bilek is the right candidate for Plzen.

Recent success.

Well, as mentioned above, the club have enjoyed incredible success since winning the cup and their very first title.

Speaking to Plzen fans, they now see themselves as one of the top three clubs in the country, and regularly qualifying for Europe is considered a success for the club. With Slavia Prague dominating the national stage right now, this is the best they can hope for.

They finished fifth last season and it was the first time they’ve come out of the top two in 10 years.

Viktoria finished fifth in the Fortuna Liga and thus qualified for the European Conference League.

European preparation

A change of manager brought a new system to the team. Michal Bilek brought in Modou N’Diaye from Taborsko to the second division and his job was to protect the four defenders. With a defensive midfielder in the squad, Plzen is now stronger at the back, but up front they don’t create as many chances as in previous years.

The team are unbeaten in the league and in Europe at the time of writing. Two wins in Fortuna Liga and two wins in Europe. Not a bad start to the season for a team that is missing 9 players due to injury.

Player to watch

Adriel Ba Loua, a delicate Ivory Coast winger who was signed from Karvina last season.

However, he did not start a game under the new manager. Czech Under-21 player Pavel Sulc has had a good start to the season and great things are expected of him.

Ultimately, if the New Saints were to be wary of a player, it would be Modou N’Diaye who has come out of nowhere to become a staple in Plzen’s midfielder.

Fun fact

Current sporting director and former Czech international Daniel Kolar has already scored twice for Cardiff City against Merthyr Tydfil in a test match at Penydarren Park.
