ANTONIO CONTE has been asked to make every effort to bring the Europa League trophy to Tottenham Hotspur stadium.
Daniel Levy named the Italian club’s new manager on Tuesday afternoon, less than 24 hours after giving the boot to Nuno Espirito Santo.
Conte’s arrival in north London has left fans confident their 13-year trophy drought will soon end.
And former Spurs manager Tim Sherwood believes the Europa League is the club’s path to silver this season.
Before Conte’s appointment he said My Paris sites: “If Spurs bring in Antonio Conte, I can see them win a trophy this season.
“The Europa Conference League is here to be taken, the only other real competition is Roma.
“Tottenham have a lot of work to do in this competition and are not sitting well.
“But, they have more than enough with the games to come to field a strong team and get the points to progress.

“With the right man in charge, they’ll win, if they really go.
“They shouldn’t let the players rest, it’s an easier path to the Europa League for them than their position in the league will be.
“Tottenham are a huge club with great facilities and talented players, and are only five points from the top four.
“Champions League football is within reach if they pull together a series of results.
“Looking at their matches, they have some really good ones to come. Now is the perfect time for someone to come up with some big games on the horizon, including the quarterfinal against West Ham in the Carabao Cup which so fly high. “
“Things quickly turned sour for Nuno. As a London team playing in London derbies, if you haven’t won one in four it gets moving for the fans.
“It’s even more true when you’re convincingly beaten in a North London derby like against Arsenal.
“The final straw was obviously losing to a manager under pressure in Ole Gunnar Solskjær.
“He was introduced informally as ‘El-Sackico’ and it turned out to be exactly that. Manchester United took the win and unfortunately Nuno paid the price.”
Sherwood believes Spurs now have a proven winner at the helm, saying: “One thing he [Conte] guarantees you is this experience to win.
“His relationship with Daniel Levy will be great, as long as the team wins, I’m sure he would require signings though.
“Most of the clubs he has managed have spent the money so Conte is expected to live up to his end of the bargain – handing out trophies. There is nothing Tottenham want more right now than to win a trophy. “
Former Chelsea boss Conte is impatient to get back to work, saying: “I am extremely happy to return to training, and to do so at a Premier League club that has the ambition to be in. again a protagonist.
“Tottenham Hotspur has state-of-the-art facilities and one of the best stadiums in the world.
“I can’t wait to start working to convey to the team and the fans the passion, mentality and determination that has always set me apart, as a player and a coach.
“Last summer our union didn’t happen because the end of my relationship with Inter was still too recent and emotionally too involved with the end of the season so I felt it wasn’t still the right time to resume the coaching profession.
“But the contagious enthusiasm and determination of Daniel Lévy to want to entrust me with this task had already hit the mark. Now that the opportunity has returned, I have chosen to seize it with great conviction. “
