KDD 2022 Announces Special Conference Tracks for Government, Health, Deep Learning, Diversity & Inclusion


Lectures, panels and articles will address society’s biggest challenges and the role of data science and artificial intelligence

WASHINGTON, July 7, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — KDD 2022, the premier interdisciplinary data science conference, today announced special days dedicated to health, government, deep learning, and equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI). taking place between August 14-18 in washington d.c. at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center and online, the conference will feature designated tracks that will include lectures, live panels, and research papers on topics ranging from digital health and algorithmic biases to exciting developments in learning in depth and US government data science programs.


In-depth learning day on August 15th is devoted to the impact of deep learning on data science and will provide a broad overview of recent developments, including emerging topics that deserve more attention. The six lectures will include presentations by Chandan Reddycomputer teacher at Virginia Techand Danai Koutra, associate professor of computer science and engineering at University of Michiganas well as workshops on spatiotemporal data and adversarial learning methods for machine learning and data mining.

EDI day on August 15th will focus on gender equity by addressing both challenges and opportunities for women (women-identified and non-binary) and their allies as we work towards greater gender equity, diversity and inclusion in academia and industry. Keynote speakers include Dr. Brandis Marshallmanaging director of DataedX Group and professor of computer science at Spelman College, Rukmini IyerVice President of Microsoft, and Kristen Titusformer Chief Technology & Innovation Officer of the New York State, founding executive director of the Cognizant Foundation, NYC Tech Talent Pipeline and Girls Who Code. The workshop will include panels focused on career paths and options, a women’s power lunch, and a mentorship session.

Health Day, also on August 15th, is dedicated to researchers and practitioners who leverage data science and artificial intelligence to improve global health. Discussions include keynote presentations from Milind Tambe, Gordon McKay professor of computer science, faculty director of the Center for Research in Computation and Society at Harvard Universityand Director of “AI for Social Good” at Google Research India and Temiloluwa O. Prioleau, Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Dartmouth College. In-person communications and discussions will focus on generating responses to medical dialogue, mobile health applications, and other health data mining applications.

government day on August 16 will include panels featuring leaders and program managers from relevant federal agencies, including the National Science Foundation (NSF), National Institutes of Health (NIH), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and Intelligence Advanced Research Activity Projects (IARPA).
