Lynn E. Kobow, 79, of Ripon, WI, died June 13, 2022 at the Markesan Resident Home.
Lynn was born on August 25, 1942 in Fond du Lac, WI, the son of Arnold and Elda Kobow.
He grew up in rural Fox Lake, in the city of Trenton, and graduated from Fox Lake High School in 1960.
He married Marion Mildebrandt of Marquette, WI on June 4, 1967 at Zion Lutheran Church in Kingston.
After graduating from high school, Lynn attended college in River Falls, WI, then served in the Air Force from 1961 to 1965, where he served as a linguist.
He joined Speed Queen through an apprenticeship program in November 1965, working in the engineering department and retiring in 2006. He continued to work in retirement at the Green Lake Conference Center, a/ k/a American Baptist Assembly in the maintenance department until October 31. , 2014.
Lynn was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Fond du Lac and held various positions in the church over the years.
He enjoyed traveling with Marion in the United States and abroad. He enjoyed solitude and enjoyed reading, puzzles and other types of puzzles, and birdwatching.
Survivors include his wife, Marion, three sons, Brian (Orie Maas) Kobow of Watertown, WI, Douglas Kobow of Ripon, WI, Jeffrey (Vonda) Kobow of Arlington, TX; two grandchildren, Victoria Kobow and Jeffrey Kobow, Jr., both of Arlington, TX; a fourth son, James Kobow from a previous marriage. Lynn is also survived by her sister-in-law, Lona (Steve) Thurk of Markesan, WI, her niece, Heather (Chris) Rice and grand-niece, Charlotte Rice of Chelmsford, MA, and her nephew, Brandon Thurk of Fond du Lac, WI.
Lynn was predeceased by her parents, Arnold and Elda Kobow and her sister, Myrna Kobow.
A memorial gathering for Lynn will be held Monday, July 11, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 855 Martin Avenue, Fond du Lac, WI 54935. A memorial service for Lynn will follow at the church at 11:00 a.m.
If desired, memorials in Lynn’s name can be directed to the Winnebago Lutheran Academy in Fond du Lac.
