Qatar Foundation to Host 2nd Progressive Online Education Conference

Doha: The Qatar Foundation will host the second edition of an international conference exploring ways to transform the way education is delivered in schools.

Bringing together founders, experts and educators from the world of progressive education, the three-day Leading Educational Advancement through Progressive Schools (LEAPS) summit, taking place online May 16-18, will see attendees share proven methods to disrupt mainstream education to help make schools sustainable through a series of interactive presentations, discussions and workshops.

Organized by the Qatar Foundation (QF) Pre-University Education (PUE), the conference will focus on three themes: education reinvented, the power of play and well-being.

Within these key areas, some of the topics that will be covered will include reviewing trials and successes from recent years, during COVID-19; discuss new teaching practices, such as class changes, parent engagement, and technology; prioritize play in learning; and highlight ways in which teachers, parents, students and principals can take better care of themselves – and their communities.

Keynote addresses will mark the start of each day, and speakers who are set to present include Mitchel Resnick, LEGO Papert Professor of Learning Research at MIT Media Lab; Dr. Stuart Brown, founder of the National Institute of Gambling; and Louka Parry, CEO and Founder of The Learning Future.

Qatar Foundation’s innovative school, Academyati, has identified and is collaborating with some of the world’s most progressive schools to share their proven methods of disrupting mainstream education and making schools future-proof at this conference. Some of the progressive schools ready to participate include: Real School Budapest, Hungary; Portfolio School, USA; Liger Leadership Academy, Cambodia; and Anji Play, China.
