The main quotes from Jurgen Klopp’s post-Brentford press conference

Jurgen Klopp has spoken to the media after his side’s dominant display against Brentford at Anfield.

Goals from Fabinho, Takumi Minamino and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain helped ease goalscoring worries in the absence of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

Here’s what the Liverpool boss had to say after the win.

On Takumi Minamino’s impressive cameo…

“Taki got the boost before the game with some great songs [27th birthday] and being that much in the game and scoring that goal is absolutely helpful. Taki is in a good moment.”

Minamino started the afternoon on the bench after his battles against Arsenal in midweek, but following Oxlade-Chamberlain’s injury he was introduced for the final 15 minutes which was enough for him to make his mark in front of the Kop.

With Salah and Mane absent, the goals will do Klopp’s side well ahead of their second leg showdown with the Gunners on Thursday night.

On the Oxlade-Chamberlain injury…

“It’s a shadow on the game, he rolled his ankle. We hope it’s not too serious but we will have more information tomorrow.”

It was another impressive performance from the 28-year-old this afternoon as it was his goal that doubled the Reds’ lead and put the game out of reach for the away side.

However, in the manner of his career at Anfield to date, the midfielder’s afternoon was overshadowed by an injury he picked up in the latter stages of the contest.

Confidence before Thursday?

“Winning is good for confidence, definitely. We can cut out the noise from the crowd, we knew against Arsenal what was wrong.”

Klopp admitted in his pre-match press conference that Thursday’s first leg performance against Arsenal was clearly not good enough.

And despite the Reds’ continuing problems against Thomas Frank’s side, a bag full of goals and a clean sheet were the perfect preparations ahead of Thursday’s trip to north London.
