TEXARKANA, Texas — The Texarkana Chamber of Commerce will host the third annual “Women in Business” conference from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Texas-side Convention Center.
“We’ve brought in some truly amazing speakers over the past three years,” said Chamber communications director Natalie Haywood.
Keynote speaker Rachel Muir is from Austin, Texas.
Muir started a non-profit organization called Girlstart, which was created to empower girls in science, technology, engineering, and math. Muir has raised several million dollars for her cause and has been featured on Oprah, CNN and the Today Show. His presentation will focus on how to impact someone’s life on a daily basis.
“We were lucky to bring in people like Sarah Thomas. She’s the first female referee in the NFL; we brought her in practically last year,” Haywood said. “The year before, Jessica Haas and Jessica speed painted for us. She’s the first female speed painter and she’s from Texarkana.”
Muir’s next panel will talk about how they influence others, who influenced them in their careers, and how attendees can influence others, in a segment called “Influencer,” Haywood said.
“Our goal with the conference is to bring content to Texarkana that women would seek out elsewhere,” Haywood said. “There’s nothing like it in Texarkana.”
